Rock & Snow

This rock climbing supply store continues the traditional building techniques of a historic district while providing a dramatic retail space. Built of split-face concrete masonry with accents of glazed and sanded brick, the building uses its structural walls as decorative elements. Structural bluestone was used for the lintels, reintroducing an historic local material that had fallen out of use 50 years ago.

The building is heated and cooled with geothermal heat pumps and was one of the first such systems used in an urban historic district.
