Flaherty Residence
This large home built on a 68-acre estate recalls the Shingle Style homes of the late 19th century. The site is a gently sloping hill with wonderful views of the Shawangunk Mountains.
The home was designed as a series of interconnecting rooms linked by a central axis. Light and views are framed by interior arches connecting the spaces to generous windows that frame mountain views. Fanciful elements (the observatory tower, children’s wing rotunda, secret stairs, etc.) all contribute to a house filled with romance and whimsy.
