Walsh Farm
New Paltz, NY

Conceived as a facility for ecumenical retreats and group study, the Walsh Farm adapted an existing 1920s Barn and added three new structures: Guest Quarters, Staff Housing with Meeting Rooms and a Chapel. The broad sloping site lent itself to a stepped plan with a central garden organizing the various elements. Clearly a Rural Acropolis, the farm design is an assemblage inspired by the Shaker villages of New York and Massachusetts.
