Restoration and Renovation
Workshop Held at Historic Maple Grove
On Saturday, May 14th a workshop held at the Maple
Grove estate in Poughkeepsie, NY, gave visitors insight into the
process of restoring a historic structure. The
West Façade of Maple Grove is currently being restored by architect
Matthew Bialecki, AIA of Matthew
Bialecki Associates in New Paltz and by Jon Behrends of Precision
Contractor in Poughkeepsie. Maple Grove, built in 1850, is on
the National Register of Historic
Places.
Topics covered at the workshop included restoring historic brickwork,
fabricating and installing custom windows, repairing and fabricating
exterior wood trim, metal roof repair and restoration, selecting historic
color schemes, learning common old house repairs and financing
restoration projects.
The workshop was hosted by the Maple Grove Restoration Committee
and was sponsored by WS Industries, Preservation Products, Catskill
Woodworking and Precision Contractor.

New Bungalow published by Gibbs-Smith Publishers in 2001.
